The PhotoBomb

When the kids were little they went out of there way to please adults. But now they are entering a new phase, where their individuality begins to appear. It doesn't matter to me if they want to make faces because I've seen it all before. I saw their father do it and even I did it as a kid. I understand, it's part of growing up. And I find it amusing!

Rocket Science

Legos are deceivingly simple. They appear to be simple blocks with holes and pegs that you connect one to another. But you soon discover that they require dexterity and planning to build complex structures. Future NASA engineers!

Undesirable

French fries are best enjoyed when they are served fresh and hot. When they become cold, even a kid finds them undesirable. There is no comfort in cold comfort food.

Bendy Straws

If you want to quiet a kid in a restaurant, give them a bendy straw. They become very quiet as they devise creative techniques for twisting and bending straws.

Cool Wedding

It was a very hot summer day, but it was a very cool wedding. The groom arrived on a horse and the bride arrived in a hummer. How can you beat a wedding that has dancing horses and a mariachi band!

The Connected Society

We've become so connected to our cell phones and tablets that we must make sure that we have an adequate supply of "juice" to run all of our electronic toys.
So much so that airports, colleges and many public locations provide free charging stations. After all, you gotta have the "juice" to stay connected.

The Cost Of Education

It was a tough winter. A couple of my window screens got torn and needed to be replaced. So off to home depot I went. There is a rule of three for every home project. No matter how well you measure and plan, every home project requires three trips to the hardware store. This time I knew it would only take me two trips and I would beat the odds. However, after I re-screened the window I was trimming the excess screen when the utility knife slipped. And yes, I must start over. The rule of three stands intact.

Bunk Beds

I have a theory that if there are two bothers that are close in age, that they probably shared a bunk bed when they were kids. Parents like it because two kids can share the same room. Kids like it for different reasons. The kid on the bottom can kick the bottom of the mattress of the top bunk. But the one on the top gets to throw dirty clothes at the one on the bottom.
