Day After Christmas

'Twas the day after Christmas and out of the house I did go. Up to Maine I did go, where they also had no snow. The interstate was clogged with travelers on their sleds. While hopes of no traffic jams danced in their heads. But I left early and thwarted all plans for celebrating New Years stuck on Rt 495.

Gingerbread House

Eric made this cool gingerbread house without using any gingerbread. He used marshmallow, graham cracker, twizlers and vanilla wafers. It was an artistic masterpiece.

Lunch With Grampy

Eric and I had lunch together at Friendly's. I had a great time with him. Food, ice cream and a tough word search puzzle. All the ingredients for a great memory for me!

Kids and tracks are timeless. Connect curve track with straight track throw in a bridge and you never end up with the same design twice. Fun to watch them play!

My Favorite Summer Memory

Ethan had a school project to draw his favorite summer memory. One that he would never forget. I was lucky to be part of that memory. I knew that boys and go carts go together. I only wish for more memories with him.

Christmas Caroling

Some young people came by my mothers singing Christmas carols. They went door to door spreading Christmas cheer to everyone in the housing development. My mother opened her door to a door into the past. And for a moment, all was right with the world.

Rainy Days And Tuesday's

It was a very rainy day. It rained so hard that rain came down thru the roof of the train. But those of us who ride the train don't let these little things bother us. We just open our umbrella up and sit on a wet seat.

Our veterans chorus had a Christmas program at the Congregational church in Princeton. People really seemed to enjoy the music. I saw a lot of people swaying in the pews.

Happy Thanksgiving

There is so much to be thankful for! We are so lucky to live in this country with the freedoms that we have. There is so much hate, violence and oppression in the world around us. I am so very thankful to be an American.

Snow Before December

On the day before thanksgiving, we will get between 8-13 inches of snow! I know from personal experience that significant snow before December means a nasty winter.

Rockport Massachusetts, salty air and souvenir shops. You may fall in love with old cape cod but the north shore can empty your wallet just as well.

To Those Who Serve

Today is Veterans Day. A special day to remember those who served. I complained a lot when I was in the navy. But as I look back it really was a special time in my life and I am glad that I had that experience.

Football and Leaves

Notice the green grass without any leaves! I had to clear the leaves so we could play football. There was a time when they were young and didn't know how to catch the ball. They would let it fall to the ground and bounce. But now they make diving catches and even try to one hand the ball. Fun stuff!

Birthday Wishes

I learned a new way to sing happy birthday that was funny. The kids would add "cha cha cha" after every verse and at the end they added " o-la-la". It was fun to listen to their version.

It's fascinating to hold a leaf in your hand and carefully observe it's changing colors. By observing things we become changed as well.

I remember playing catch in the backyard with my boys when they were young. There was always a leaf pile that had to be jumped into!

A Hot Chocolate Moment

Ah! The moment you receive your cup of hot chocolate you must hold it and wrap your fingers around the hot mug. Then you carefully stir the whip cream and watch it dissolve. Then, you are ready to take a taste test. You have to close your eyes so that there are no outside disturbances while carefully tasting your hot chocolate.

We had a harbor map with an X on it and it had to be where the buried treasure was!

On The Water

We decided to rent a boat and go where we wanted to go and do what we wanted to do. It was a lot of fun creating our own tour.

Breakfast Buddies

When we are on vacation we have to have pancakes for breakfast every morning. It just wouldn't be a vacation without pancakes!

New Flavors

When you are a kid you get to create your own flavors. Like combining hot chocolate with a glass of water. All you need are two straws!

The ice cream at the Sundae School has so much real cream in it that you hear it moo!

When you are at Cape Cod, you have to have ice cream at the Sundae School! Every night there is a special police detail to handle the parking. And it has been that way for many years.

We rented a self propelled boat to tour the river. No rowing required! It's the civilized way to go!

It Can Fly

So much fun to fly a kite! You have to run to get it airborne. Give it some string and then pull back to have it catch the wind and climb. And watch it soar.

Me And My Boys

It is rare that I get to spend time with only my boys. We got together on Jonathan's birthday and met at a restaurant. It was such a special time that I had this deep inner peace and happiness. No matter how old they are, they will always be my boys!

Portsmouth

Nothing like a day trip to Portsmouth, NH. A chance to unwind and just be together. Even after being together for over 46 years, it's still fun to be together.

Yard Sail

What do you do when you out grow some of your toys? Why you have a Yard Sail. I think I convinced him that the car with only 3 wheels is worth $20.

Big Green Tractor

The best part of taking kids to farms is that you get to be a kid again. I get to climb tractors, pets farm animals, take hay rides, and play in the splash park. I want to be a kid again!

Gold Mining

The kids took a pail and a pan and sifted for precious jewels. Finding treasure is something that was fun even when I was a kid.

Davis Farm

This was probably our last time to Davis Farm and we made sure to enjoy everything that it has to offer. I especially enjoy teaching all of the grandchildren how to use the giant shovel to scoop up sand. Then turn and dump it in a pile. Lots of fun!

I'm enjoying being part of a veterans choir. I didn't know it would be so hard to learn songs that I already knew!

Happy Birthday

When it's your birthday you get to eat anything you want. And if your birthday is near the 4th of July then you get to celebrate for the entire week!

The Trophy

He is so proud of his baseball trophy! I had no idea how much it meant to him. He never came over to brag and to show me what he received. But when I asked him how was his baseball season he eagerly showed me his prize. I saw him play and he was awesome!

Flag Day

There is something about our flag and what it stands for. Freedom is just a word in so many countries. We are very fortunate to be able to live in this land. It is our heritage to preserve it for our children.

The Graduate

She looked so pretty graduating from kindergarten. I don't know when graduating from kindergarten became an event but she certainly turned it into one! Congratulations!!

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Something happens when you put on a uniform. It shows that you belong to a team. It inspires you to want to be your best for your team. Eric was awesome at the plate.
