Veterans Choir

My next door neighbor is a member of a regional veterans choir. He and the other members provided a fantastic musical performance for Veterans Day.

When I was a boy we didn't have Veterans Day. Instead, we had Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I. It is appropriate that we pause to remember and thank those who served.

Kids have great names for their stuffed animals. The huge pink bunny is simply named Big Bunny!

Kids like to smile and laugh when they are around horses. Kids and horses both like to play.

There is something about discovering a pond that makes you run to it, explore it, throw things in it and just have fun being around it.

Apple Picking

I found an apple orchard where a boy can stand on the ground and pick apples. I went to four different orchards until I found one with low hanging tree limbs that are just right for a boy to pick apples.

A great day is a great day when there is ice cream.

Heart to Heart

The hospital stitched Mr Tickles back together. They gave him a bandage with a heart. When they discharged him they gave him a box of candy medicine. Pretty cool!

Sometimes our stuffed friends need to be stitched back together. Teddy bears need a lot of love so they can give love back.

Eating lunch in an apple orchard is like being a kid and laying on your back and looking at the shapes of clouds. Only I don't have the strength to look up at the clouds.

I remember when he avoided the rock wall and the swinging steps. Now he approaches them with confidence! He carefully analyzes new situations and thinks through how to handle them. I am learning so much from him.

There is a working lighthouse in Chatham and the light will light up the eyes of a little boy.

With a pair of binoculars you can see every flaw on Grampy. And when you see one you have to scream what it is so everyone on the boat can hear.

A vacation at the cape is never complete without miniature golf at pirates cove. Little boys and Big boys like to shoot the water cannon!

We were looking for sea shells and discovered a treasure of them. It's not what you find that matters, it is the bragging rights for the trophy.

Eric's Big Adventure

Every adventure has to end with handmade ice cream. French vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. A very special day that included touring a submarine, harbor cruise, lunch and ice cream. Grandchildren help us to do cool things!

Our first stop was a visit to the submarine the USS Albarcore. When you tour submarines you have to bring your friends along. Like Sid the Squid. A cool official USS Albacore hat and a patch that is over your heart.

We were supposed to go see the Nautilus submarine in Conn, but it was too hot. Eric made his own submarine that is pretty cool!

Grammy is very good at creating unique Lego designs. Who needs designs to follow when your imagination can create new designs that marvel little boys!
