The Band

His father plays the guitar and he wants to be just like his daddy. I tell my son to remember these moments. The "I want to be like you" years don't last very long and when they are gone you would give anything to have them back.

The Thinker

He opened his tool box, reached in and pulled out a saw. He held it up, examined it carefully and then handed it to me. Then he repeated the same steps for his measuring tape, wrench and other tools. But he kept his eye on me to make sure he got his tools back, I don't blame him.

Golf Blues

It may be a mild winter, but it is still winter! When you have a golf course as a next door neighbor, you get lots of wildlife and also animals.

Sledding

They play so well together! They generously share with each other, look out for one another, and have great fun together. They did learn that you can't walk up snowy hills with tennis sneakers on. Cause when you slip and reach out and grab a sticker bush it is time to call Grampy.

Good Fun

They were all falling out of the sled like members of the Jamaican bobsled team. Great fun to be sure!!

The Storyteller

It was story time and Grammy was reading stories to the grandchildren. Children were under her arms and laying on her legs just to be near her and hear her read! Priceless!

Visual Math

Ethan was showing me how he parses numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and ones. Then by counting the pieces in each category he can add the numbers together. Awesome!!

The Library

Ethan took me on a tour of his school. In the library we found a box of books, and the book on top was Treasure Island. I told Ethan that I read that book when I was a boy. He stared at me, unable to comprehend that I had been a boy once. And I stared at him as I realized how far from my childhood I have actually traveled. The road doesn't lead back.
