Birthday Girl

My Princess is three. She is a big girl now and is no longer wearing her pretty pink princess tutu. Instead, she was yelling at boys and swinging a baseball bat with them. Grammy and I were sad. We miss the brightness of her magical world. Grandchildren provide you with the wonderful gift of leaving the realities of life for the enchantment of their world.

Birthday Special

Consider yourself lucky if you get a homemade birthday cake. But even more special is one that has been made that incorporates your favorite characters from Super Mario and the Princess.

The Hat

My mother told me that she made a present for me. After many years of absence, she had taken up knitting again. I looked at the hat she made for me and I recognized the design. It was the same design she and my grandmother used for knitting decorative covers for rolls of toilet paper. I told her that she did a wonderful job!

Bird Food

I used to wonder how stuffed animals got "stuffed"? I didn't know that "Birdie" the parrot can get stuffed on too much pizza dough. Observing the little things that my boys did, but not being able to remember them as clearly as I would like, this is the gift of being a grandparent, to relive these experiences and memories.
