Reading In The Car

There are so many things that you can do with an empty box! The Princess climbed into her imaginary car and began rocking it to make it move. Then she pulled out a book that she had brought with her and started to read to me.

This is a very environmentally friendly car. It's only emmisions are dreams and fantasies. How can adults ever be as free as a child?

The Cup Is Full

It's a par 4 and I am on in two and will go on to par the hole.

The speck in the horizon is my brother. I think that he is landscaping the fairway. I shout words of encouragement to him. But he is so far away that he can't hear.

A priceless moment!!

The Pelican Brief

Only defective golf balls go out of bounds. You shouldn't even bother to look for them when they do go out of bounds.

However, there are those who love the thrill of finding lost balls. They will search until there is no land left to search. Only when they encounter the ocean can their wretched souls find peace.

A Bush In The Truck

A Super 8 hotel closed down near my brother in Myrtle Beach. And since they are closing, my brother thought he would assist them in disposing of some of their assets. Those bushes that they no longer seem to need.

But, don't dig out bushes and put them in your truck while the Chief of Police is watching you!!

A citation in the hand is worth two bushes in the truck.

Men Want, Women Have

It's a beautiful day, and we are at the park. The big attraction is the sandbox. Even the kids are tired of winter and want to feel sand between their toes. Grampy wasn't aware of just how much sand was between their toes until he took their shoes off when we got home. I had sand castles on my family room floor.

The boys in the sandbox want what the Princess is playing with. Begging and pleading begin at an early age for men.

Sliding Scale

She is only two but she can climb. She had to show me how she can climb up the rock wall, walk across, slap the bars and then slide down the slide.

Yeah, she is pretty, she is tough, and she wears pink.

The Music Box

There is a magical attraction and fascination between a child and a music box.

This one happens to play Jingle Bells while a train goes around the track.

Even though it isn't Christmas, Christmas comes alive and lives forever, every time their little hands turn the key and wind it up. And they love to wind it up and listen to it over and over.

Grampy and the Princess

If you should ever be so fortunate as to have a princess sit on your lap, then you know the wonderful assult upon your senses.

Her hair shampoo leaves a wonderful aroma of apples, or strawberry or other wonderful fragrances.

Even when she is sitting still, she isn't really sitting still. She will sit on my lap and with tireless energy she will ask, Grampy, what is this? And as soon as you explain, she will then ask "Why", a million times. She can unpeel the layers of an onion until she has received what she considers to be, a satisfactory answer.

I never knew that the pursuit of knowledge could be so physically exhausting.

Food For Thought

There is only one way for a two year old to eat olives.

They must be stuck on the ends of your fingers. So that they can be eaten one finger at a time.

These really are "finger foods".

Frigate Nymph

In Rockport,Mass, there is this monument to the Sea-Fencibles. The Sea-Fencibles were a voluntary militia, formed in 1798, to protect the coast line.

During the war of 1812, 9 sea-fencibles were guarding the munitions. When the British Frigate the NYMPH, snuck in, captured the munitions, dismantled the Fort and took the 9 sea-fencibles prisoner.

The townspeople ran out and using their socks as sling shots, hurled stones at the Frigate.

I guess there is a moral to this story, only a nymph can make you lower your defenses and make you a prisoner.
