The Discovery Room

Children like to explore. They like to do things differently, even unexpectedly.

I discovered that the Princess is left handed, when she picked up a large, heavy wooden bridge and threw it with all she had into the wall.

The boys discovered that there are wonderful caves and tunnels, underneath chairs. They like to roll race cars as fast as they can, underneath the chairs, to see where they exit.

A better name for the family room, is the discovery room.

Fun In The Snow

Does the child in you remember playing in the snow? The throwing of snowballs. Going sledding and making a snowman.

I now throw snow with a snowblower. I go sledding in my car on untreated highways.

I become a snowman as I stand out in the snow, waiting for the commuter train.

All in all, I prefer the perspective of a child.

The Journey

Our life is a book and we are the author. The story is our journey. The chapters our milestones. Our family are the bookends that support us, keep us in place and keep us from shifting.

The path of our journey are the results of all of the decisions that we have made.

Life may put obstacles in our path, but we choose how we respond and which direction our path will take. The path is never straight.

Thank you mom for teaching me that peace is a daily experience, from trusting the direction of your steps.

The Road Less Traveled

The cars follow the sander. The sander follows the plow. It's not romantic or poetic, it's just how we get from here to there. It's not a rumba but a little bumpa if you don't follow the lead.

The shortest distance between two points is the line straight behind the plow.

Biting The Hand That Feeds You

Valentines Day dinner at the Old Mill. Pecan rolls that are so sticky, that they stick to your hands before they stick to your waist.

Going outside and feeding the ducks and then having them bite you.

Perhaps the Mill is insured by Aflac!

Loyalty

If you look up "loyalty" in the dictionary, you will see his picture. The years are beginning to take their toll on him. I can no longer allow him to jump into the backseat of an suv. His rear feet can't quite clear the frame of the car. He can't jump into the bed either, but struggles to climb up.

Inspite of his age and despite his condition, he will struggle with all of his might, just to be with me. I am trying to adjust my world to be more accomodating for him, because, he deserves it.
