War Of The Machines

Where do my socks go? What does it do with them? And why??

It takes two pairs of socks to make one pair. Orphan socks must be saved to be matched with future orphaned socks.

The war of the machines continues.

The Real Reason Why We Have Earlobes

Consider the earlobe. As a child, I would wonder about the functionality of the earlobe. That loose skin that just hangs below our ears.

I now understand and appreciate the delicate role that the earlobe plays as part of our body's defense system.

When little children reach up for our faces, thankfully their little hands grab and twist our earlobes. Talk about grabbing low hanging fruit! This sudden move by them can wake us up from any deep nap.

Love Hurts

We were reading a story that involved animals. That led to little eyes and little hands turning to Buddy.

Janelle then reaches up to Buddy's big neck and grabs his fur. Then she screams as she pulls herself up by pulling on his fur.

A Golden Retriever is amazing around children.

One For Janelle

Janelle, you probably won't remember your first birthday, but you can bet that your grandparents will.

People sometimes break life down into milestones such as births, graduations, and weddings.

But for grandparents, every daily achievement is a milestone. Every time we see you is a joy. Happy Birthday!

House of Balls

You take a tent and fill it half way with balls. Then you add Eric. The ingredients will then rise to a combustible mixture of laughter and craziness.

Cool toys like this never existed when I was a kid, I was lucky to get a cardboard box to play in.

Okay, cardboard boxes didn't exist when I was a kid.

Willie Wonka Chocolate

I couldn't believe my eyes. There was a fountain of flowing chocolate. Beside it were plates of veggies and other foods for dipping.

If you look closely you can see that the chocolate is being stirred by Oompa Loompas.

Recession

Remember the movies you would see of sailors on long voyages to the new world. When they had been at sea for months with no sight of land. Then someone would spot land in the distance and a shout would go out of "land ahoy"!

Today I saw some bare earth!! Uncovered, exposed, bare naked land!!

It was exciting stuff!!

Snowflake

I'll never undestand why dogs love the snow so much. It doesn't matter how cold it is, as long as there is snow on the ground.

Buddy will make snow angels in the snow. He will dive in it like a kid jumping into a leaf pile. He will take a running start and dive and slide on the snow.

If life is about enjoying the moment, we could all learn from dogs.

Lion King

It just so happens that toys for children are also the favorite toys for dogs.

Buddy has taken a stuffed lion for him to use as a pillow.

When it comes to personal comfort, you can't beat Buddy.

Pigtails Comply With New Digital TV Airwaves

Are you confused over the switch to digital tv? Not sure what to do with your analog tv?

Pigtails have been approved as a new signal converter antenna.

When Janelle stands in front of the tv, her signal is so strong and clear, that she is the only thing I can see.

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Day

Whose woods these are, I think I know...But I have many places left to go...

The poet can find beauty in nature, in the woods and in the snow.

But should the poet stop by my house on a snowy day, they will find that there are no other places left for them to go, because they won't be able to get out of my driveway.

The Black Pearl

We went sledding over at a friends. And there in the middle of the backyard was this awesome pirate ship!

This was the size of a garage. It had an anchor, a pole to slide down, ladders, a ships wheel and plenty of room to play on.

Ethan had a great time playing on the pirate ship.

Warm Thoughts

Today is Ethan's birthday! He is three years old.

For his birthday, he wanted to go outside and blow bubbles.

We may be surrounded by snow and ice, and snow and ice, but deep in our souls we are thinking warm thoughts!

Birthday Balloons

For Eric and Ethan, one of the highlights of the birthday party were balloons.

It took awhile to discover what to do with a balloon. They would let go of the balloon and watch it rise to the ceiling. They were amazed! They had discovered flight!

But the most fun with the balloons was using them to bop each other in the head. It was great fun!

Birthday Cake

Ceremonial celebrations such as birthdays, are celebrated with cake.

Colorful and decorative birthday cakes announce and herald our transition into the upcoming years.

Candles are symbolic of the passage of time and they serve to light our way into the future.

Darcy had a beautiful cake made by her friend. The unique design of the cake, with it's bright colors and decorations was a great celebration of her birthday.

Pink Panther

Grampy and Eric tried on the birthday sombrero.

There were comments that the pink hat complimented my skin coloring and that pink really seemed to be my color.

Birthday Surprise

We had a surprise birthday party for Darcy at a Mexican restaurant.

Darcy got to wear the birthday sombrero while everyone sang happy birthday. The restaurant staff joined in the process and sang a loud Mexican birthday song to her.

Friends and relatives naturally and freely contribute to the public embarrassment process.
